We enjoy hunting all sorts of things, but waterfowl holds something special for us. For more than 30 years we have been avid waterfowl hunters, and we 100% understand what drives people to hit the fields and marshes early in the morning to set up decoys and build blinds. We just fully understand waterfowl hunters and why they do what they do! 

With a complete understanding of what brings waterfowl hunters back to the field over and over again, we know those moments that get your heartrate up – when wings lock up, feet start to drop, and the whole flock suddenly commits to the spread. As a result – our bird mounts reflect those poses and those magical moments in the field. 

Additionally, while Alberta offers some of the best waterfowl hunting in the world – there aren’t many local taxidermists with a real passion for mounting birds. By focusing entirely on waterfowl taxidermy we can offer quality bird mounts with reasonable prices and quicker turnaround times. And we can leave the amazing deer heads and lifesize mounts to other amazing taxidermists in the province.

Nope. Definitely not. While we enjoy flushing Roosters and appreciate seeing a great Owl or Eagle mount ourselves – this just isn’t something that grabs our interest at the same level that waterfowl does. We are 100% focused on waterfowl taxidermy and plan to keep it that way. 

However – there are some incredible bird taxidermists in Alberta who specialize in these types of birds and do absolutely amazing work! We can definitely provide a couple of great recommendations!

Turnaround times will vary, but our goal will be to maintain a MAXIMUM 6-12 month turnaround time. 

Having said that, many birds will be fully mounted, dried and ready to go home in significantly less than that. We have developed very efficient systems by choosing to focus exclusively on waterfowl – so turnaround times should remain reasonable for the foreseeable future.

If we can have them up on your wall and looking great in 6 months or less, that would beideal.

Yes. $500 (+GST) deposits are required for each bird dropped off. 

Deposits are non-refundable. Once we have your bird they will be started into our process as quickly as possible. There are several steps to the taxidermy process and as a cost effective niche studio we have limited freezer space to work with. So initial steps on your birds may be taken within a day or two of delivery. With that in mind, we can’t get our time back if clients vanish or don’t come back.

Absolutely yes. 

Standard poses and simple bases are included in our standard pricing. (And they will look awesome!) 

For anything expanding beyond that, additional costs may apply and will be discussed and agreed to with clients before proceeding with any work. But if you have a specific vision for your mount we would love to hear your ideas and see what we can come up with! 

Please note that custom bases can take a large number of hours to complete, so these costs can add up. 

Our standard pricing and processes have been designed to meet the needs of most hunters and collectors, while maintaining lower prices than many options available.

Absolutely, 100% yes. 

Waterfowl Forever has both a provincial taxidermy license issued through Alberta Fish & Wildlife, as well as a federal license to provide taxidermy services on migratory waterfowl species in Canada.

Yep!  We sure will!   Waterfowl Forever will have scheduled bird pickups throughout the province later in the season.
